Tsukiji Walk & Making Sushi at Home
Visit Tsukiji Fish Market, shop ingredients for sushi and make sushi at a local Japanese home.
Tour Schedule
8:30 - 9:50 Walking and shopping around Tsukiji Fish Market
Tokyo is known as one of the most famous gourmet cities in the world. Tsukiji Market provides various fresh foods, specifically 480 different kinds of fish and seafood for gourmet Tokyoites. A professional tour guide will show you around the market and explain how it is operated every day.
There are many shops near the market where you can enjoy shopping for a wide variety of food such as fresh fish, vegetables, nori (sheets of dried seaweed) and other dried seafood at very reasonable prices. You will browse around these shops and get some ingredients for sushi.
You will visit a home in Kita Ward in Tokyo. It takes about 30 minutes from Tsukiji to the nearest station by train including transfer. It's a 10-minute walk from the station to house. We might do some shopping along the way.
10:50 - 13:30 Making sushi and Japanese dessert
In Japan, people make many types of sushi at home. On this tour, you will learn to make three types of sushi - sushi rolls, gunkan rolls (a small portion of rice wrapped with a strip of nori and topped with soft ingredients) and nigiri sushi (a small portion of rice topped with raw fish). You will learn how to make them easily by using sushi-making tools. You can even take the tools home with you after the tour. You can choose many different ingredients for the sushi such as tuna, salmon, cucumbers and eggs. Your family and friends will be amazed when you make sushi for them in your country. You will also learn how to make an easy Japanese dessert.
After making sushi, it’s time to have a lunch party! For many Japanese, making sushi and enjoying it at home is a typical happy family get-together. You can enjoy daily Japanese life with some delicious sushi, dessert and coffee or Japanese tea.
Your guide will direct you to the nearest station (Oji or Akabane Station).
