The Charm of Wind Chimes
Schedule
Master’s demonstration→ Blow glass→ Let the wind chime cool down→ Learn history and explanation of wind chime paintings → Paint the wind chime
Would you like to make your very own Japanese wind chime? In Japan, the cool sounds of wind chimes divert us from the heat of summer. In the olden days, craftsmen used to sell chimes in towns across Japan. Shinohara Wind Chimes is the only place in Japan that makes wind chimes from glass (known as Edo Furin). This tour will take you to where the glassblowers work. You will be able to blow and shape your own glass into your own unique Japanese wind chime- the ultimate Japanese souvenir to take home! Relax and listen to the music of the gentle breeze as it passes through your wind chime.
