Taiko Drumming Course & Asakusa Walk
Schedule
Walk to Drum Museum (Taikokan)→ Short explanation about Taiko→ Walk to Taiko Center→Taiko Drumming→ Guided walk around Asakusa
Taiko drums are considered to be one of the first percussion instruments invented by humans. This tour will lead you to discover the wonders of taiko drums. The tour starts at the Drum Museum where you can observe and touch a collection of drums which have come from around the world. You will also be able to participate in short drumming sessions on them. The sound of a taiko drum is thought to be like the sound at the bottom of our souls — it's the basis for human rhythm. You will find out that taiko is not only a musical instrument- the physical activity involved during the drumming has made it become a form of relaxation, recreation and entertainment. After the taiko session you will enjoy a short tour around Asakusa’s temples and shrines and find out more about traditional Japanese culture and religion.
>> Group Deal is available now for this program.

When you hear taiko, what is the first thing to come to your mind? A Japanese festival? Half-naked performers with hachimaki (headbands)? Thunder-like beats? Yes, taiko is all of that, however, it is also a means of relaxing and keeping your body in shape whilst playing traditional music and enjoying rhythms that your own imagination create!
