Learn Kimono painting Technique (`Edo-Yuzen`) at Naomi Kaneko`s Art Studio
Schedule
Short explanation about the materials to be used→ Paint your own Yuzen scarf→ Listen to a short lecture on Yuzen art→ Short tour of the studio and see the exhibition→ Receive your Yuzen scarf
Yuzen is a popular, traditional Japanese kimono-dyeing technique. Intricate patterns on yuzen kimonos are all hand-drawn and dyed.
Visit the studio of Ms. Kaneko (who has 33 years of experience as a yuzen artist) and see her masterpieces. Then try dyeing silk yourself. You will then understand why yuzen kimonos are so expensive.
Ms. Kaneko has donated some of her works to the Belgian Ryoal Family and has been exhibiting others abroad in cities such as Paris. This is a rare opportunity to learn from such a prominent artist.
Feedback from our participants:
"Being taught with so much care from wonderful staff in the class, it truely defines the goods in Japan" (Japanese Female, 25)
Yuzen Designer, Naomi KANEKO
The real charm of yuzen lies in the beautiful colors dyed onto silk fabric. You become so enthralled by these colors that you lose track of time.
