The World of Japanese Calligraphy
Schedule
Learn about the history and the forms of Kanji→ Learn Calligraphy preparation techniques→ Grain the ink stone→ Teacher writes a model of your favorite Kanji→ Write by yourself→ The teacher corrects your writing→ You Write your favorite kanji on the fan
You may have seen written Kanji (Chinese characters) before but have you ever tried to write them yourself? A single kanji embodies both sound and meaning. These characters give us a glimpse of how people in ancient times felt and viewed things.
After you learn about the background of calligraphy, about specific Calligraphy techniques (for example, ink grinding) and about the correct method to draw strokes, you'll be ready to express your emotions as you draw your own kanji on a paper fan with traditional Japanese brushes and ink.
Come and discover the deep world of kanji through this calligraphy program.
Feedback from our participants:
"It’s great because we do it, we write and we make our own souvenir. It was also really interesting." (Canadian female, 16) ♦ "Very interesting and professional. The master can explain everything clearly and without rush. Very easy to understand." (Dutch Female, 30s)
