The Taxi´s Automatic Door

Most foreign visitors are surprised by the automatic doors of Japanese taxi cabs. That's because in other countries, the door is opened and closed by the person who gets into the taxi. Many believe the taxi driver should open and close doors for the passenger as part of his job to ensure a safe and comfortable ride.

That's how automatic door controls came to be installed in all taxis. Automatic doors are only found on the back seat left-hand side of the taxi. So, you will still have to open the front seat and back seat right-hand-side door by yourself.
