Shinjuku
The Shinjuku district and Shinjuku Station are not only a main part of Tokyo, but also play a major role in Japan. There are tons of people who use Shinjuku Station everyday. The JR and private train lines that run through Shinjuku Station are Yamanote, Saikyo, Shounan-Shinjuku, Chuo, Sobu, Odakyu, Shinsen, and Keio Lines. The subway lines are Shinjuku, Marunouichi, and Toei-Oedo Lines.

The East side of Shinjuku Station has many department stores, specialty stores, and restaurants. Whether it be noon or night the continuous wave of people never stops. Especially at night Shinjuku becomes very crowded. Shinjuku is often referred to as a crowd of people. When you exit Shinjuku’s East Exit there will be a police box and Studio ALTA, a department store. If you choose to meet people at Shinjuku Station this is a popular place to meet at. Also a little walk from the East Exit there is a beautiful park called Shinjuku-Gyoen Mae, that has flowers that change with every season.
From Shinjuku’s West Exit there are many skyscraper buildings lined-up that create a sub center of Tokyo. Near the skyscrapers there is a famous park called Shinjuku Chuo Park. From the west exit there is also Omoide-Yokocho, which literally means memory alley, which is a small street where a post Pacific War Black Market used to be. This place is very densely populated with small izakayas. It was considerably developed after the war, in modern Shinjuku it is thought of as an old fashioned place. Since you can drink and eat until late at cheap prices it is very popular among both Japanese and non-Japanese.
Kabukicho is a famous area in Shinjuku that is often set as a scene in movies, comics, and anime. The area of Kabukicho is lined with hotels and places to eat and drink. It is one of the best entertainment areas in the world. Kabukicho is located near the Seibu-Shinjuku Station. On the west side of the Seibu-Shinjuku Station there is a 2nd hand record shop that has rock, jazz, and various other music. It is very popular among young people. There are also restaurants that hold many events.
