The first thing you see when you enter will be a reconstruction of merchant houses lining the street. There is also a Japanese pharmacy, fish market, tableware store, paper store, mat maker shop, teashop, sweets shop, and a soba noodle shop from that period. Even when Japanese people step into this environment they feel a new and fresh feeling.
For example, they did not have refrigerators back then, therefore to preserve the fish they used to put it in a wicker basket and place it in a shady place. At the paper store location you can also see wood block prints in many colors. In the farming area you can see Japanese paddy fields, small fields, a charcoal maker, and a hut. There is also a reproduction of an Edo Period (1603-1868) water mill. In the Samurai area you can see the Edo Period Samurai residences that were made for intermediate level samurai. There is an old house and Japanese historical site, Iwayajifun. You can even see a real ancient tomb.
