Area Information
Nakameguro
A slow-paced town
The area around Nakameguro Station becomes especially busy at night. There are quite a few restaurants and pachinko parlors lining up underneath the elevated railway tracks and around the station. Condos and office buildings line up along Yamanote Dori Avenue. Here you will also find newly opened dining and drinking spots. Nakameguro is dotted with popular and famous restaurants. There are quite a few talent agencies in the neighboring areas, too, so it is said that you have a good chance of seeing showbiz figures in this area. Steps away from Yamanote Dori is a relatively quiet residential area. There aren’t many upscale residences in this neighborhood — the majority of the properties are apartments and condos suited for middle-class businessmen and single female office workers. Nowadays, the alleyways are lined with newly opened stylish boutiques and dining spots run by young owners. Some of those shops and restaurants were remodeled from old houses into eye-catching unique structures, and the alleys are busy with young people. Further beyond, cherry-tree-lined Meguro River runs along a back street. Due to the famous cherry blossom viewing, the apartments on the river side are so popular that their rents are sometimes higher than those in the Yamanote Dori Avenue area.
