Area Information
Enoshima
Enoshima lies about 25 min. by train from Kamakura Station. Many people say that Enoshima is a side trip from Kamakura; however, it is something that cannot be done in an hour or so. If you have the time I would suggest spending at least an afternoon on this fascinating island.

There is a path that leads around the island taking by the famous shrine; however it is sometimes closed around the sea because of typhoons. The main attraction on Enoshima Island is the Enoshima Shrine. In order to get to this you can either take an escalator or walk up many many stairs. If you are up for it I would suggest the stairs, but there are a great deal of them, so please keep this in mind.

On the way to the shrine there are many interesting stops you can make along the way. After viewing the temple I would suggest to continue on the path; as you start descending on the opposite side of the island there are amazing views of the waves beating against the cliffs. There are many things to do and see on this island, if you have an afternoon or a day I would definitely suggest taking some time to wander around Enoshima.
