Akasaka

Akasaka is an International Business District. This area is a contestant in first-class style. From the olden days this area continues to be a place where politicians and people in the economic world gather for important meetings. When one mentions Akasaka one usually thinks of the traditional Japanese Restaurants in this area, but there are also many stylish restaurants in this area with high quality food. There is also no lack of places to drink. There are many hotels in this area; therefore it is a convenient place for both people in Tokyo on business and tourists to stay.

[Sightseeing Spots]

Reception Hall
This is Japan’s only Neo/Baroque building. After the war this building was used as a reception hall for welcoming non-Japanese guests, state guests, and a summit assembly hall. This building is in the midst of greenery. Access: 8min walk from JR Yotsuya Station

Suntory Hall
Everyday top-notch Japanese and non-Japanese play here. The sound quality is very good, making it a top class concert hall. Access: 5 min. walk from Roppongi 1-chome Station Exit 3

If you want a simpler feeling you should go to Akasaka Hikawa Shrine or Toyokawainari Shrine, Benkeibashi is also worth seeing. On a nice day at Benkeibashi, you can rent a rowboat and take a relaxing ride around the moat. You can also go fishing from the rowboat; therefore you should challenge the image of Business Akasaka and go fishing for a day.

Akasaka Hikawa Shrine
This shrine has a great deal of greenery. This shrine houses Tokyo area’s priceless treasures.

Toyokawainari Shrine
Many red paper lanterns dangle as a mark. This is where the god of the area is enshrined.
Access: 5 min. walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station Exit B

Benkeibashi Boat Dock
There are not only fish inhabiting this area, there are also herons and ducks. Access: 1 min. walk from Akasaka-mitsuke

Kyoto Building
On the 1st and 2nd floor there are about 3000 Japanese accessories and traditional handicrafts that have been displayed. This is a great place to buy souvenirs.

NINJA AKASAKA
This is a Ninja style restaurant. If you are interested in Ninjas you should definitely go. There are private rooms decorated with a Ninja motif. You may also be able to see Ninjitsu, the fighting skills of the Ninja.

Toraya Akasaka Shop
This long-standing confectionery shop was established 480 years ago. When this is given as a present to a fellow Japanese they are even happy. Access: 7 min. walk from Akasaka-mitsuke Station

AKASAKA Café Restaurant & Bar ATRE
This is a popular Sports Café & Bar. Inside the bar there is a monitor that mainly shows soccer matches, but also other sports from all over the world.
Even if you go alone you will find it fun.
